Resources From Beyond the Veil
Stories can sometimes open conversations we weren’t expecting.
These resources are here to help children and the grown-ups beside them explore some of the feelings, questions and quiet moments that appear throughout The World Beyond the Veil.
Stories first. Conversations if they come.
The stories of The World Beyond the Veil are made to be enjoyed first and foremost as stories.
They are not lessons to be taught or conversations that must happen.
But sometimes a character, a moment or a line opens a door.
A child may recognise something in Rowan’s uncertainty, Moss’s need for space, Wren’s hope or Pebble’s stillness. A grown-up may notice something too.
The resources on this page are simply here to support those moments when they arise — offering gentle ways to explore feelings, confidence, boundaries, connection, resilience and repair without rushing to fix or explain.
Sometimes the most helpful thing we can do is stay beside someone while they find their own words.
What informs the world?
The World Beyond the Veil is informed by person-centred counselling and psychotherapy, particularly the work of Carl Rogers.
At its heart is the belief that people often grow best when they feel genuinely heard, accepted and not rushed. That means making space for empathy, honesty, curiosity and unconditional positive regard — rather than immediately trying to fix, direct or rescue.
The stories also draw on ideas around attachment, emotional regulation, resilience and reflective practice, all translated into language and characters that children can meet without needing to know the theory behind them.
The theory sits quietly underneath the story. The relationship comes first.
The stories may begin in the Veil, but the conversations they open can continue long after the book has closed.

A gentle note.
The resources shared here are designed to support reflection, conversation and emotional understanding.
They are not intended to replace individual therapeutic, educational or medical advice, and every child will experience the stories and activities differently.
Please use what feels helpful, leave what does not, and allow the child’s pace, interests and responses to lead.
There is no right way to explore the Veil.
