Gift: Boundaries & Trust
Moss is a plump little hedgehog with moss, tiny flowers and the occasional woodland treasure caught amongst his prickles.
He likes everyone to believe that he prefers being alone.
And when something is wrong, Moss has a particularly convincing answer ready:
“I’m fine.”
Sometimes he even nearly believes it himself.
Moss’s prickles are not there because he does not care. They help him feel safe while he decides whether the world — and the people in it — can be trusted.
Liora never asks him to uncurl before he is ready. She does not pull away because he is prickly, either. She simply sits beside him and leaves enough space for Moss to decide what happens next.
Slowly, Moss learns that a boundary does not have to shut everyone out. It can be the place from which trust begins.
And those who stay gently nearby may eventually discover the very soft heart underneath.
Soft hearts sometimes wear prickles.
